Heidi Garwig, owsHeidi Garwig, a Youngstown, Ohio based watercolor artist, works primarily in a representational style but often incorporates abstract and conceptual traditions in her work. She relies upon her own photographs and plein air watercolor "sketches" to develop larger scale pieces. Through careful applications of washes and contrasting values she brings luminous and vibrant qualities to her paintings; highlighting the beauty of natural phenomenon. This is especially evident in recent water reflection paintings like "Downstream " and "East Gorge."
An award-winning artist, her work has been juried into international, state and regional exhibitions. She holds memberships in The Ohio Watercolor Society and numerous other watercolor societies. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University, has pursued graduate work at The Ohio State University and has participated in numerous watercolor workshops throughout the midwest.
